When Keystone got this particular booking for the summer of 2010 we were very excited, as Balbirnie House is an award winning wedding hotel. As a modern and creative wedding photographer I was in my element at this stunning venue. When the couple were looking to book a wedding photographer Edinburgh was their main point of reference and naturally found Keystone Photography.
Balbirnie House Hotel is in a beautiful Scottish parkland estate in the village of Markinch in Fife, about thirty five miles north of Edinburgh. It’s won numerous awards for its services and has become a very popular wedding venue. It caters for all sizes of parties so you’re sure to find it a great place for your big day or any other special occasion. A wedding photographer is spoilt for choice in this spacious and luxurious venue.
The couple booked Keystone’s renowned standard package, which included amongst the collection of products is the rarity of entire day coverage (from bride getting ready right through to the evening dances). The day started off with bridal preparations at Balbirnie House in a suite upstairs where all the girls were getting ready. I captured the groom and best man with ushers outside the building and also the groom and his family in one of the rooms, producing a balanced mix of reportage and family group shots.
The ceremony in the Long Gallery beckoned and I photographed the emotions as it all unfolded, from the groom being nervous in the beginning, bride coming down the isle, exchanges of vows and rings, and of course the kiss!
The drinks reception was held outside and because of the spacious grounds there was plenty of scope to capture groups and reportage with ease while everyone was relaxed and enjoying themselves. As a modern contemporary photographer I also used a variety of different backdrops and a blend of creative techniques which is what Keystone Photography is recognised for.
More evening guests arrived later and a live band kicked off the evening festivities. I caught the first dances and bridal party with a variety of traditional and modern techniques as everyone danced the night away.
