As a professional reportage wedding photographer Edinburgh City Chambers on the Royal Mile is a great canvas for my contemporary style of wedding photography. The couple from London were looking for a wedding photographer with an all-inclusive package and entire day coverage, and this just happens to be my standard photography package. Bride ready pictures were done in the city and I captured natural light portraits of the bride and detail shots of all the bridal attire. When I arrived at the Edinburgh City Chambers I captured reportage of the groom and best man in the hall and some portraits of them too. Guests arriving always add to the story so it was good to get these too.
The bride arrived and I photographed her with her dad and bridesmaid outside before heading back into the ceremony room. As the professional photographer I was given permission to take photos during the ceremony. After their vows I photographed them signing the register and then went to work on reportage photography of guests during the drinks reception. My unobtrusive reportage style means I just photograph what I see without interfering or posing guests. I try not to get in the way and many couples have told me that their guests commented on how I was able to capture them unoticed.
I took the couple out into the square and got some contemporary portraits of them together. As a creative photographer I’m always looking for different angles and perspectives and making good use of the surroundings.
The Scottish ceilidh in the evening went down well after the first dance and it was great to photograph the happy couple and their wedding guests dancing the night away.
